Mathieu Courchene – President

As co-founder and President of the Hunter-Courchene Group, Mathieu facilitates and hosts discussions and engagement processes with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit groups in all types of subject matter areas for a variety of purposes, including evaluations, community development, research, program design, and policy development. Mathieu graduated with a degree in political science and law in 1992 from Carleton University.

Mathieu has worked consistently on the engagement, empowerment, and inclusion of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples on all matters that may impact their rights and communities. An expert in facilitated processes, Mathieu has 30 years of experience in the design and implementation of facilitation techniques that allow participants to acquire, retain, and apply knowledge and skills through the creation of safe and dynamic environments. Mathieu was born in Quebec City and is a member of the Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba. He is bilingual and able to work in both English and French.

Carolyn Hunter – Chief Executive Officer

Carolyn is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of the Hunter-Courchene Group, managing the operations of the company since its inception. Carolyn is from the Moose Cree First Nation in northern Ontario and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and English from Trinity Western University.

As the CEO, Carolyn is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of the office, including human resources management, contracting, project oversight, and client management.

Carolyn is also the lead coordinator for all events, establishing collaborative working relationships and ensuring that client goals and expectations are met, both on time and on budget. Carolyn also undertakes additional projects, including evaluative learning, research, policy development, and writing for the company.

Sharon Visitor – Director of Projects, Partner

Sharon is Oji-Cree and a member of the Cree Nation of Wemindji in Quebec. She joined the company in 2004 and is the Director of Projects and a Partner at the Hunter-Courchene Group. Sharon leads the design and coordination of various projects, including research and evaluative learning, and she specializes in community liaison, relationship building, and data collection. Sharon also works on event coordination, writing, and report development for the company.
